When people remember individuals who have helped them, teachers are often at the top of the list. Teachers shine a light ahead to places that students can't yet see: a place where students find their unique talents and use them.

World Teachers’ day is celebrated all over the world, but interestingly, the dates don’t necessarily match everywhere. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on the 5th of October in the year 1966 had held an intergovernmental conference on matters concerning the status of teachers. Taking this history into account, later UNESCO decided to celebrate this day as the World Teachers’ Day in the year 1994

Most of the countries have their own way of celebrating World Teachers’ Day. You all should know some way before expressing gratitude to your teacher.

All teachers love to receive recognition for their hard work, but they appreciate it the most when it comes from their students. Here are some suggestions on how fellow teachers and parents can help students can give thanks to their teacher.

1. A Greeting card:

Ideal gifts for your teacher would be to present them with cards which have greetings written on them, or maybe create a card yourself and present it to your teacher. Students usually bring gifts for their most admired teacher and this shows the respect and bonding students have with their teachers. Students have even written poems and sang songs on Teachers Day for their favorite teacher and also prepared motivational and encouraging speeches

2. Write a Letter

In the spirit of handmade tokens of thanks, the second way you can thank teachers is with a letter. Younger students can create colorful cards and older students can type up honest letters of appreciation to their teachers. Make sure to highlight a specific instance when your teacher really helped you through a problem or helped you learn a difficult concept. Remember, some of the most important lessons teachers pass down to students aren’t academic lessons but life lessons. Don’t be afraid to really let your teachers know just how much they’ve positively impacted your life.

3. Give Thanks Out Loud

One of the most important ways students can express their gratitude to their teachers is to say it out loud. A unique way of doing this is to give thanks over the loudspeaker. If this is not possible then students can also ask the teacher if they can have a few minutes at the beginning or the end of class to show their appreciation.

4. Teacher Showcase

Like most schools, you probably have a table, bulletin board, mural or case that displays school projects and trophies. Dedicate some space this year to your teachers.

Display an award, certificate, or anything that showcases the teacher’s good work, charity, skill, and accomplishments. Use the display to make it clear that you value all educational, vocational, and community pursuits, even from your teachers.

5. Recognition Ceremony

Public displays of appreciation are enormously valuable. We love it when we’re thanked for our hard work in front of other people.

Maximize the good vibes your teachers feel by thanking them during your morning announcements, in newsletters (print and email), on Facebook groups, or any in-person events. This tactic makes teachers feel appreciated, but it also sets a standard for your students and other employees about what your school values.

You don’t have to host an inexpensive formal event, just make sure to show your recognition publicly. For instance, you might hold a brief ceremony during lunch where you thank a teacher for their help with a recent event or congratulate a class for their performance.

6. An Inspiring gift from your class

Imaging your class wears the same design world teacher’s day shirt to welcome your teacher on this day.

Such an amazing gift can melt your teachers hear. And why not prepare for your teacher a unique teacher shirt?

7. Appreciate Your Teachers Every Day

The simplest and surest way to show your appreciation for a teacher (or anyone, really) is with your words.

Pull the teacher aside so you have their attention. Thank them genuinely for their hard work. Cite specific examples of their good deeds so they know you’re aware of their dedication and to their job and devotion to their students.

Teacher Appreciation Day is an important time to recognize your teachers for their hard work, but don’t stop there. Take steps to show your appreciation throughout the year, especially when your teachers do something deserving. Get the kids involved too!

We all have a special teacher who opened up the world of reading, illuminated a particularly fascinating science experiment, or guided us down the path of life to help us get to where we are today. Now that you’re all grown up, send your best teachers a quick note or Facebook message to let them know they really did make a difference in a child’s life—yours!
